Decided to give Bigbury ago today, got there about 11ish & there was 2 people out i went up to the upper car park to watch for a bit & sus it out, the tide was nearly all the way in so the 2 guys had a shadow from the cliff, wobbling out through white water then bang F6.It looked quite big out there.
I rigged up slow & opted for the 5.0 & 76lt board, by now the tide had dropped a bit.A couple of others had got on,mostly on 4.5's.
1st run, well powered up, flying now literaly, firing upwind & straight out, Shit these suddenly look like big mothers, loads of white water vertical 8ft faces breaking hard on the sand bar & me! it was really gusting out here, the 1st gybe was dry but it was really bouncy cranking it round but no way i was falling off (not yet!).
Made it back & realiesd it was gonna be a bit mad day.
The wind picked up some & was gusting really hard, after a harness line snapped i changed down to my 4.2, still had loads of power with this but gybing was a lot easier.
I got trashed a few times, made a few errors by gybing on waves to close to when they were gonna break, dropping straight into the pit & stalling then getting munched, one was like a washing machine, round & round i went but no way i was letting go of that kit! Seen 1 guy bail &lose his kit, a Female kitesurfer rescued him, towing back in to his kit.
I got off before low tide, after de-rigging etc. got the camera to take some pics but wish i had stayed on as although still white water around it was all over to left & people were getting out the back from the right sometimes without even having to go over white water, with huge swell breaking then reforming again, although still very big it looked a lot less scary.
Met with Iaino, who looked to be having a great time out there. will post some picd tomorrow
